Oliviera scores twice as Porto lose 3-2 to Juventus; win on away goals with aggregate 4-4, qualify for quarter finals

The big question arises now: What next for Cristiano Ronaldo?
The Portuguese joined the Italian side in 2018 and since then has won the Serie A and the other domestic competitions in Italy but the Champions League is one trophy that has eluded him.
This is the third consecutive elimination for Cristiano Ronaldo as a Juventus player, which will hurt him as he is not used to missing out on doing well and winning this tournament.
Mr. Champions League with this elimination may look for a move away from Turin and we analyze why so:
2019-2021 Eliminations
In 2019, Juventus reached the Quarter finals before him knocked out by Ajax 3-2 on aggregate. 2020 was another failure as Juventus were out in the Round of 16 against Ajax on away goals.
This season too has seen the same script but with a different side as Porto knocked them out on away goals.
Three successive eliminations will definitely play on the mind of Cristiano as he has not been able to win the trophy with Juventus and with not many years in his career, he would look to try another challenge and make sure he wins the Champions League elsewhere.
Perhaps a last throw of the dice with another European team before he hangs up his boots.
Three successive managers
The consistent chopping and changing of managers may play an important part in his decision as adjusting to a new manager’s style and understanding of play is a challenge.
When Ronaldo arrived, it was Allegri who was in charge of Juventus. In the next 2 seasons, he saw Allegri sacked, Sarri arrived and then being sacked before Andrea Prilo became in charge.
Back and forth defense
ImageThis season has been marred by the inconsistencies of Juventus and the inability to go on a winning run. Ronaldo is still top scorer in the Serie A even after such inconsistencies.
The requisite of defending well in knockouts and providing support is lacking in the Black and Whites.
In the 2019 and 2020 season, it was Cristiano Ronaldo who had to do it alone with little to no support from his teammates as he took Juventus to the knockouts.
Consistent performers and performances win championships, not individual brilliance.
Ronaldo may leave due to the lack of determination and support from his Juventus teammates.
ImagePirlo will need to wait till the end of the season for Ronaldo’s decision regarding his further stay in Italy or him bidding adieu.
A shift to boyhood club, Sporting CP could be on the cards, even Old Trafford could be calling.
Only time will tell us what Ronaldo decides for his future.
