Last night’s win was Man United’s 28th across competitions this season; making them the most successful European team.

In the 2022-23 season, no team has won more matches than the Red Devils, which is a testament to their desire, passion and work done by Ten Hag.

First victory over Barcelona since 2008

Manchester United has last beaten Barcelona in the UCL 2008 on road to their memorable title run.

Since then, the Catalan side have had the wood over United having won the 2009 and 2011 UCL Finals.

Even in the 2019 UCL competition, United faced Barcelona in the knockout stages but were soundly beaten.

But last night was Man United’s first victory over Barcelona in 15 years and it came on their home turf.

Old Trafford last saw United beat Barcelona in the 2008 clash where Scholes struck a terrific goal to help them win 1-0.

Most Goals by Substitutes

ImageManchester United have scored 19 goals across competitions this season via substitutes. No other team has scored more goals through substitutes across Europe this season.

United were 2nd best in the 1st half last night but impressive changes in the 2nd half helped them perform better. Weghorst was subbed off last night at HT for the Brazilian winger, Antony.

The substitute made an impact in the 62nd minute when he calmly curled his effort to score the winning goal.

But it was before this goal that United gained momentum as they started the half on a positive note and developed momentum.

Fred-Winning Factor

Fred scored the equalizer for United at the start of the 2nd half to give them the perfect boost.

This was his 5th goal of the season across competition. It is to be noted that Manchester United haven’t lost a single game this season when Fred has scored.

This stat is a significant one as Fred has managed to turn his season around under Ten Hag after indifferent performances last season.

Fred was everywhere during the 2nd half in particular with the goal and managing to keep de Jong at bay.

The ex-Shakhtar mid-fielder probably put in his best performance in Man United colors last night.

He will hope to continue with such performances as United move into a tricky phase of the season.

Competitive in All competitions

Manchester United win last night kept them alive in all 4 competitions they are competing in so far during the 2022-23 season.
