It was a field day for Belgium as they spanked Belarus 8-0 at home on Tuesday night to get to the top of Group E table.
Goals from Batshuayi, Doku , Praet, Benteke alongside 2 strikes each from Vanaken and Trossard completed a night of domination for The Red Devils.
Belgium did not even give the visitors a sniff during the entire proceedings.
The Belgians began the onslaught in the 13th minute as Batshuayi smashed a left footed strike to make it 1-0.
Vanaken scored his first of the night to make it 2-0 in the 17th minute when he got onto the end of Meunier’s cross to complete a brilliant finish.
Trossard made it 3-0 in the 38th minute with a sumptuous strike from outside the box to score his first goal in Belgium colors. It was just the perfect way to open your account for the country.
Doku ran past the Belarus defense to make it 4-0 in the 42nd minute with Praet providing the assist.
It was Praet who started off the second half with a delicious strike to make it 5-0 within four minutes of the restart.
Christian Benteke came on as a substitute in the second half and got his name onto the scoresheet as well to make it 6-0 in the 70th minute.
The Crystal Palace striker got onto Alderweireld’s cross to slot home on his competitive comeback for the Red Devils.
Trossard got his second of the night as he completed the finish through Gutor’s leg to make it 7-0 with Doku setting it up with a through ball in the 76th minute.
Januzaj set up an easy finish for Vanaken one minute from time as he scored his second of the night to make it an embarrassing 8-0.
It was only about time before the referee blew the whistle to stop the carnage being inflicted.
Lukaku, De Bruyne, Mertens were given a rest and still Martinez’s side inflicted plenty damage to Belarus and their marginal chances of qualifying.
This showed the strength and character of the Red Devils and why they look the real deal moving forward.
