England cricket team and the letter ‘J’ : The love affair

England’s cricket team is just getting better and better. This is probably the golden era of English cricket. They won the cricket world-cup recently in 2019 under the leadership of Eoin morgan. They are dominating the test format and also ranked 1 team in ODI and T20 formats.

Now, I am not a person who believes in coincidences but among the current crop of English cricketers, there are ten players whose name starts with the letter ‘J’.

Here is the complete list:

1- Joe Root

Dependable, classy, leader. You run out of adjectives as soon as you start describing the English Captain. Joe Root recently became the most successful captain in test format for England.

2- James Anderson

Doesn’t matter if the ball is new or old. Aging like a fine wine, the bowler magician can swing it both ways, at will. He leaves behind his impressions on every continent he travels to. Every time the selectors draft the test squad, he is always the first entry on the list.

3- Jofra Archer

Archer’s modus operandi is plain and simple. His favorite music genre is ‘sweet chin music’. He operates at a red-hot pace and never lets the batsmen settle-in.

4- Jos Buttler

Jos Buttler represents Rajasthan Royals in IPL. He can open an innings, play at no 4, play at no. 6, can keep as well. You can think about his finishing prowess by this one statement- ‘His idol is AB de Villiers’. You’ll find him playing for England in all formats.

5- Jonny Bairstow

Jonny Bairstow is one of few players who have more than 3000 runs at a strike-rate of more than 100 in ODIs. He is also a wicket-keeper batsman who mostly plays ODIs and T20

6- Jason Roy

Jason Roy is England’s ODI and T20 specialist who likes to charge on bowlers in the powerplay. He opens the batting units for the teams he plays. He is also part of the Sydney Sixers team in BBL.

7- Jack Leach

The left-arm spinner already has 50 scalps in just 13 test matches. He is becoming a regular face in England’s test team.

8- Joe Denly

Joe Denly’s journey so far has been pretty on and off kind. When he gets going it’s tough not to notice him.

9- Jake Ball

In an already overflowing bowling unit, Jake Ball is still trying to make room for himself. He is a tall bloke who brings serious pace with him and has played 18 ODIs so far.

10- James Vince

James is the second-highest run-getter in BBL 10. He has represented England in 13 Tests, 16 ODIs, and 12 T20 games.

P.S- England’s last few coaches include Jon Lewis, James Foster, Jeetan Patel, and their batting consultant in Sri Lanka was Jacques Kallis.
