Chelsea dropped points in their pursuit of a top 4 finish as they were held to a goalless draw against Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday in the Premier League.
It was a rather disappointing contest with both chances not creating many dangerous opportunities to work the No 1’s of both sides.
Chelsea was the brighter team to begin proceedings as they moved the ball around quickly, strung in few passes to start upping the tempo but it was the home side who had the first opportunity of the game, when Roberts scored into the empty net, but the referee picked up the offside flag to cut short the celebrations.
Leeds had a disastrous moment as Ayling’s clearance bounced off Llorente’s back and hit the crossbar but luckily landed in the hands of Meslier to deny Chelsea the lead.
Roberts had his shot hit the crossbar when he curled a shot into the top corner with Mendy getting the slightest of touches to divert the ball onto it to deny the home side the opening goal.
The rest of the half was possession-based football with not many shots on target as both sides went into the half goalless.
