European Footballers in MLS: MLS (Major League Soccer) is USA’s captivating form of league football which has grown steadily in recent times.

The MLS has been a major source of revenue particularly for many ex-footballers who have invested and buying major stakes of clubs there.

It has also been a place where footballers aim to finish their careers after going through the pressures and challenges.

The MLS has seen a number of high-profile players either finishing their careers or making a move to the States for various reasons.

There have been major moves announced in the transfer market where big players are taking the MLS route and today, we look at the top 5 going overseas.

Leonardo Bonucci

The centre-back recently saw his side finish 4th in the Serie A and end their campaign trophy less.

Bonucci has been at the helm of Juventus for 11 years in total and with age and form catching up, he might look for a move elsewhere.

The MLS at this stage of his career could be a good choice given Juventus have now begun to invest more in young players.

Bonucci can be a vital addition to the MLS given his vast experience which can be taken forward into a management or coaching role.

Giorgio Chiellini

ImageChiellini is set for a move to Los Angeles FC and has confirmed his departure from Juventus.

The veteran received a rapturous applause when he played his final match for the Black and Whites, bringing his 17-year stint to an end.

A future coaching or management role is not too far for the Italian as he moves to the MLS which he terms as an enriching experience.

Lionel Messi

As per reports, Messi will join Inter Miami in the MLS once his contract with PSG ends in 2023. The Argentine has also agreed to acquire a stake in the club.

Lionel Messi hasn’t had the most fruitful start to his career in Paris post the emotional move from Barcelona.

However, Messi will hope to get back to his best next season with the Ligue 1 champions and end his Paris reign on a high with his side in the Champions League as well.

The 30-year-old’s move to Toronto FC is one of the most ambitious and biggest moves in the history of MLS.

The Euro 2020 winner is moving on a five-year deal to Toronto, which can make them potential title contenders once again.

Luis Suarez

A move to the MLS may not be an entirely bad option for the ex-Liverpool player. However, he still prefers a move to Barcelona.

But given the Catalan side’s interest in Lewandowski, Suarez could miss out on his return back to the club.

Suarez has a few years left at the top and could ply his trade in the States, which will provide him further exposure to a new league.
