Griezmann goal not enough as France held to 1-1 draw against Ukraine, earn a point


The world champions, France did not start off on the right note as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Ukraine in Paris last night.
ImageGriezmann opened the scoring for the home side but it was a Kimpembe own goal which leveled matters for Ukraine as the away side held on to gain an important point.
The French began proceedings on a bright note as they had the lion share of possession in 66% and deservedly opened the scoring due to the same through Griezmann.

Ukraine came back into the game after a good start for the hosts.

They rewarded in slightly fortuitous manner when the ball deflected off Kimpembe from Sydorchuk’s shot into his own net to bring Ukraine back on level terms.
The away side held on as France tried to find a winner but were not at their best on the night with only 3 shots on target for the hosts.
Paris Saint Germain striker Mbappé hardly had a sniff throughout the match and as a result was very underwhelming throughput proceedings.
Ukraine’s goalkeeper had very little to do on the night as the French were far from their best.
Pogba, Dembélé and Martial were brought on to switch up, but to no avail as France were well off the pace with improvements needed as they look to progress.
