South Korea 2-1 Portugal: South Korea sealed a famous 2-1 win over Portugal in their final Group H match on Friday night at Education City Stadium.

Kim and Hwang scored for the Asian side after Horta gave an early lead to Portugal to ensure a second place finish and a place in the Round of 16. The victory sees South Korea face the Group G winners in the Round of 16.

Portugal took the lead through Horta in the fifth minute as he struck home from Dalot’s cut-back ball. The European side began on a positive note and deserved their lead.

However; soon Korea got themselves into the game as it progressed and got the equalizer through Lee in the 27th minute. Ronaldo’s failed clearance fell into Kim’s path before he scored from close range.

South Korea began the second half on an aggressive note as they looked more hungry and determined.

Cancelo made an important block to deny Son as Korea had some good chances to seal the game.

Hwang doubled his side’s lead in extra time to send Korean fans into a tizzy. Son led the counter-attack and ran almost 70 yards before perfectly timing his pass to Hwang.

The Wolves striker sealed the deal with a cool finish past Costa and sealed an emotional qualification as they kept their dream alive.
