Hitman’s Potential records
1) Highest score by an Indian Batsman in a pink ball game
As far as the pink ball matches are concerned, Indian Cricket Team have just played 2 pink ball games before their 3rd test against England in Ahmedabad. Started against Bangladesh in 2019, where captain Virat Kohli scored a brilliant 136 in the first innings and India went on to win the match easily. Another pink ball test happened last year against Australia in Adelaide, where India were restricted to a bare minimum total of 36 in the 2nd innings and lost the test match. 136 by Virat Kohli till now is the Highest individual score in a pink ball Test inning by an Indian batsman.
Rohit Sharma on day 1 of this pink ball game against England has managed to score an unbeaten 57 and if he strikes the ball this well, he might beat Virat Kohli’s 136 and register himself for the record of hitting the highest score by an individual in a pink ball Test.
2) 4th Indian opener to cross 10,000 plus runs mark.
The Indian opener is 63 runs away from reaching a total of 10,000 runs as an opener for India. Only Indian openers who have managed to do this in their career are Virender Sehwag (15,758 runs), Sachin Tendulkar (15,335 runs), Sunil Gavaskar (12,258 runs). Rohit has already reached 9937 runs and hopefully in the pink ball game, he will go on to achieve this benchmark too.
After a disappointing start in the first test, Rohit picked up really well in the second test and played a great knock of 161 in Chennai. The consistency is paying well and in no time he’s making it to the list of legends like Tendulkar and Gavaskar.
3) Most runs in the ongoing test series
Rohit Sharma with 262* is the second highest run getter in this ongoing test series. The only player who is ahead of Rohit is Joe root with 314 runs in 5 innings. If he manages to reach the three figure mark, then there’s a very high possibility that he will be breaking 2 records simultaneously. Rohit being consistent in this series has proved an asset for India and it won’t be surprising if he wins this match for India single handedly.
