Joe Root Evolution in World Cricket: What makes him to be the top contender for FAB 4

Joe Root Evolution in cricket: From being a young and gifted lad who kept getting cricket scholarships in his young days to leading the England team, Joe Root has always been busy scoring runs.

Be it a small stage or a bigger platform, when it comes to scoring tons Joe Root doesn’t differentiate amongst the opponents. In the first test against India, Joe picked right from where he left a few weeks ago in Sri Lanka. He has scored three consecutive tons now and, it looks like the Indian bowlers have yet to find the right questions to be asked.

Joe hails from a cricketing-rich background. His grandfather used to play for the Rotherham cricket club. Root started playing county cricket in 2011. Opponents changed, venues changed but one thing remained constant, Joe Root scoring runs and that too in large amounts. Selectors noticed his performances real and quick, and Root made his test debut against India in the dying days of 2012 in the Vidarbha Cricket Association stadium.

Since he arrived in International cricket, England has permanently reserved the number three position for him. By the time Alastair Cook retired, Root had established himself in all the formats of the game and he was handed over the captaincy.

The first test of Ind Vs England was the 100th match for Joe Root and he celebrated the occasion by scoring another century. So far, he has scored 20 tons in test cricket and 4 double-tons. Root has also crossed the three-digit number on 16 occasions (148 innings) in the one day format of the game
