La Liga: Real Madrid beat Real Valladolid 1-0, move to within three points of Atlético Madrid

Real Madrid moved to within three points of table toppers, Atlético Madrid after they defeated 19th placed Real Valladolid 1-0 courtesy a Casemiro header.

Casemiro gave the hosts the all-important goal as he rose highest to the cross from Kroos to head it home.

Valladolid did trouble Los Blancos when Courtois was called into action to made a terrific save of Obellana, who smashed the volley from the center of the box only to be denied.

Casemiro had two presentable opportunities but could not make the most of it. Real Madrid seemed content after the only goal they scored and did not attempt to go for more. A tough grind for them as they look to get ever closer to Atlético, whom they face at the Wanda Metropolitano on 7th March in a crunch tie.

This was Real Madrid’s fourth win in a row in their last five league matches providing them with momentum going into their Champions League Round of 16 clash against Atlanta in midweek.
