Lovlina Borgohain assures medal for India in Tokyo 2020 Olympics, enters into Semis

Lovlina Borgohain Tokyo 2020: Another medal for India in the Tokyo Olympics seems to be confirmed. India will get this medal during boxing. Lovlina has reached the semi-finals by winning the quarterfinal match of the 69 kg category.

After entering the semi-finals, India has been assured of at least one medal so far. Her bronze medal is sure and if she reaches the finals after winning the semi-finals. She will ensure a silver medal for herself and another for India.

In the quarterfinal match, India’s Lovlina defeated Chinese Taipe. And former world champion Nien Chin Chen by a huge 4-1 margin. Earlier, Lovlina had defeated Germany’s veteran Nadine Apetz in a close contest.

At present, Lovlina is now one step away from creating history. 23-year-old Lovlina got split points in all the three rounds. Lovlina’s sisters Licha and Lima are also boxers. Lovlina represented India at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Earlier she had won gold medal in India Open. While she won bronze in Asian Championship.

Lovlina Borgohain Background

In 2018, Lovlina won the bronze medal in her first match of the World Championship held in Delhi. A year later, in the World Championships held in Russia. Lovlina again won the bronze medal. Lovlina, a resident of Bada Mukhiya village in Golaghat district of Assam, is very popular.
