Manchester City win their 14th straight league match, beat West Ham by 2-1


Table toppers Manchester City continued on their merry way as they beat West Ham United 2-1 at the Etihad to gain a 13-point lead over Manchester United and make it 20 straight wins across all competitions.

West Ham cancelled out his effort when Lingard’s effort was directed towards goal only for Antonio to stab home from two yards to make it 1-1 two minutes before half-time.
ImageThe clincher was scored by John Stones when Mahrez probed down the right flank and opened up space to pass it to the defender, who guided his effort through a crowd of players and into the back of the net to make it 2-1 and seal the points.
West Ham kept probing and almost got the equalizer in extra time when Diop glanced his free header wide of the right post, knowing that he should have scored.
City too had their chances but managed to get over the line in the end. The goal City conceded today was their first since conceding against West Brom on 15th December, ending their run of 629 minutes without conceding at home.
West Ham United remain fourth on the points table with 45 points.
Manchester City stay on top of the tree with a 13-point lead and will play Wolves next on Tuesday at home while West Ham will play Leeds United at home in their next game on 9th March.
