NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver, 31st March 2021: NXT Results & Highlights

WWE NXT RESULTS: On the program of WWE NXT this Wednesday, March 31, last episode before NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver, we complete the double event card with the battle royale of the main event.

We start this episode with a match between Roderick Strong and Cameron Grimes booked following their little clash in the locker room last week.

Cameron Grimes beat Roderick Strong by falling with his Cave In after pulling an Undisputed Era wrist band… out of his panties. Strong obviously has some nostalgia which hinder his performance. Apart from the finish the match was good.

A video clip on Karrion Kross is playing. We are far from the usual folklore and we especially see him training here for his match of NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver next week. It is borderline more interesting like that.

Santos Escobar is in the ring. The Cruiserweight champion who will face the other champion Jordan Devlin next week, is launching an open challenge. It’s Tyler Breeze who comes to answer Escobar’s challenge.

Santos Escobar beat Tyler Breeze by pinfall with his Phantom Driver. Another very good match, just to prepare well for the ladder match next week.

Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde attack Tyler Breeze after the match, but luckily for him the MSK arrive to help him. The Grizzled Young Veterans will make a small appearance on the giant screen in preparation for the triple threat that will pit the three teams against next week at TakeOver.

Behind the scenes Johnny Gargano doesn’t digest the battle royale / gauntlet match to appoint him a challenger, but he doesn’t digest the fact that Austin Theory is among the participants either. The latter tries to reassure him: “Have you ever heard of the Finger Poke of Doom?” “ This is a question that reassures Gargano.

Presley, Taya Valkyrie’s dog is at the Performance Center. Already a big star (the dog, not Taya. Well, yes, but not there).

Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell defeated Gigi Dolin and Zayda Ramier by pinfall with the Wicked Stepsister and a springboard flying elbow drop from LeRae on Ramier.

After the match, LeRae and Hartwell challenge NXT tag team champions Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon who soon show up on the ramp with the tank… and shoot them with it. The championship game is official for next week at TakeOver, because nothing more is needed.

Behind the scenes Raquel Gonzalez attacks his opponent next Wednesday Io Shirai. It will obviously be the red thread of the evening, almost a running gag so it came out of nowhere.

Still backstage we see Roderick Strong leaving the Performance Center. “I’m done with all of this,” he tells the interviewer, as he’s set to take part in tonight’s main event battle royale.

Raquel Gonzalez defeated Zoey Stark by pinfall with his powerbomb. Good match, Stark had the right to a few moments to her, but the star remains the challenger of Io Shirai, Gonzalez must come out strong from this match.

KUSHIDA is interrupted during an interview by Pete Dunne who didn’t like him bragging about being the best technician in the ring. A little confrontation to warm up before the royal battle in which they will participate this evening. But we want to see them one on one one of these four.

Xia Li and Mei Ying beat Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro by fall with a kick. Mei Ying did not move from her throne, Kayden Carter tried to go and provoke her but will only get the right to be strangled until she passed out. We see undoubtedly witnessing a murder and no one lifted a finger. More seriously, this storyline becomes far too high for us to imagine anything concrete with it in the future.

Io Shirai interrupts an interview with Raquel Gonzalez to attack him in turn. The champion will have no luck, she will be pushed through a wall, outright. “Stay down,” Gonzalez yells at him.

“See you on April 13,” read a message signed by a certain “Franky” on screen after another appearance by Presley the little dog. Could Franky be Taya Valkyrie’s new name? It will take some getting used to.

It’s the time of the main event. A royal battle in which several wrestlers of the yellow brand compete in order to designate six participants in the Gauntlet Match next week who will designate Johnny Gargano’s challenger for the North American champion.

Note a small rule of this match: the eliminations of the last six participants will form the order of entries into the Gauntlet. The first of the six eliminated will start first while the winner of the battle royale will enter last.

In order from sixth to first: Leon Ruff, Isaiah Scott, Bronson Reed, Cameron Grimes, Dexter Lumis and LA Knight, who wins the battle royale.

Johnny Gargano has come to confront LA Knight, but they are quickly interrupted by Io Shirai who has not said his last word with Raquel Gonzalez.

The challenger arrives on the ramp, several referees come to dissuade her from joining the ring but without success, the two women exchange a few punches before a large part of the female roster of the yellow brand – which we can see here size and quality – separates the two wrestlers. The show ends with an image of Io Shirai jumping from the third rope for a crossbody springboard on the group of women outside the ring.

Good episode, the action was interesting and the final brawl smells like a well finished go-home. With a double card like that of next week, impossible to miss, do not disappoint us.
