Players miss FIFA WC 2022: The WC 2022 sees some of the top players missing from action as they have not been able to qualify for the event.

With the WC draw on the horizon, we see some of the best players that have missed their flight to the Middle East.

The 29-year-old Egypt player is not in contention for the World Cup after he could not help his side progress to the World Cup.

Egypt lost to Senegal on penalties in the CAF play-off final by a margin of 3-1 with Salah missing an important spot-kick in the shootout.

Mohamed Salah was not able to help his side deliver when it mattered the most and after a thrilling entry into the WC in 2018, Salah has to witness this one from outside.

The Swedish striker wasn’t able to help Sweden qualify for the World Cup.

Sweden lost 2-0 to Poland in their play-off final match which ensured that Sweden miss out on a berth in the World Cup finals on successive occasions.

Zlatan came out of retirement to help his side qualify for the World Cup, but could not do as the men in Yellow are out of contention.

However, Norway missed out on qualification after finishing 3rd in their group with Turkey overtaking them to 2nd place and qualifying for the play-offs.

A loss in their final group stage match against Netherlands proved to be the final nail in the coffin to ensure elimination.

Riyad Mahrez

ImageThe Algeria winger was left heart-broken as his side missed out on the WC Finals when they lost 2-1 to Cameroon in the play-off final.

Algeria lost 2-1 in the dying seconds of the game as Ekambi scored for the visitors in the 120th minute to dash Mahrez and Co’s chances.

Mahrez has now seen his side miss out on successive World Cup Appearances after 2014, where he represented his nation in Brazil.

The Italian defensive duo will once again not be part of the World Cup after Italy missed out on qualification due to their 1-0 loss to North Macedonia.

Both these players are 37 and 34 respectively and probably have missed their last chance at representing Italy at the World Cup.

This loss knocked the Euro 2020 winners out of contention and with that Bonucci and Chiellini’s hopes of having one last roll of the dice for Italy.
