The ever-enigmatic and Mercurial, Cristiano Ronaldo once again captains his nation to another FIFA World Cup. This is his 5th and probably last chance to pick up the ultimate crown.

Portugal’s 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA WC event is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Diogo Costa, Jose Sa and Rui Patricio

Defenders: Diogo Dalot, Joao Cancelo, Danilo Pereira, Pepe, Ruben Dias, Antonio Silva, Nuno Mendes and Raphael Guerreiro

Midfielders: Joao Palhinha, Ruben Neves, Bernardo Silva, Bruno Fernandes, Joao Mario, Matheus Nunes, Otavio, Vitinha and William Carvalho

Forwards: Andre Silva, Cristiano Ronaldo (C), Goncalo Ramos, Rafael Leao, Joao Felix and Ricardo Horta

Once again, Portugal have sent in a strong squad for the World Cup but need to click as a unit if they are to keep the dream alive of winning a first ever FIFA WC.

It is Ronaldo’s last chance to get his hands on the silverware given he is 37-years old and despite immaculate fitness could be well on his way out from the national side soon.

With a mix of youth, experience and in-form players, Portugal needs to be on top of their game to last the distance in this World Cup.
