WWE Elimination Chamber 2021: Drew McIntyre will defend his title Inside Elimination Chamber

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre will defend his title in the main event of Elimination Chamber – inside the pay-per-view’s trademark structure – against five former WWE Champions.

Making the announcement on this week’s RAW, Adam Pearce was joined by Shane McMahon, who revealed that the biggest main event possible for the pay-per-view would see ‘The Scottish Warrior’ step inside the chamber with friend-turned-foe Sheamus, long-time rival Randy Orton, ‘Mr Money In The Bank’ The Miz, ‘The Phenomenal’ AJ Styles, and The Charismatic Enigma Jeff Hardy.

The Elimination Chamber Match will begin with two Superstars in the ring and four other competitors enclosed in their respective pods. Every five minutes, a pod door will open, allowing another competitor to join the contest. This process will continue until all pods are empty. When a Superstar is pinned or submits, that Superstar is eliminated and must exit the Chamber. The last Superstar remaining will be the WWE Champion.

With Elimination Chamber the penultimate pay-per-view before WrestleMania, the winner of that match will very likely book themselves a main event slot at the Show of Shows by capturing – or retaining – the gold. What lies in wait? Well, maybe Royal Rumble winner Edge, who had the choice of a guaranteed opportunity to win the WWE Championship, Universal Championship or NXT Championship at this year’s WrestleMania, which takes place at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, across Saturday, April 10th and Sunday, April 11th.

Last week’s episode of RAW would see Edge and McIntyre square off in the middle of the ring, but it would be Sheamus left standing tall after ‘The Celtic Warrior’ delivered a Brogue Kick to the WWE Champion and declared his desire for the WWE Championship – a challenge which Drew McIntyre duly accepted. However, Shane McMahon’s announcement tonight confirmed the monumental multi-man match for the upcoming event.

Meanwhile, a RAW Women’s Championship Match was also confirmed for the show, as Asuka defends against Lacey Evans. The United States Championship will also be on the line when Bobby Lashley takes on Riddle and Keith Lee.
