WWE News: Christian wants to face Big E for Intercontinental Championship match at Elimination Chamber

WWE News: Having made his in-ring return at last month’s Royal Rumble PPV, many are wondering what is next for Christian.

Prior to his forced retirement from the squared circle, Captain Charisma had actually won a four-way match in March 2014 to earn a shot at the Intercontinental Championship then held by a certain Big E Langston. That title shot would never come to pass, with Christian having to retire before the match could take place.

As fate would have it, the current Intercontinental Champion is indeed Big E, who is now in the midst of his second reign with the belt. The powerhouse performer has recently opened the door for Christian to finally receive his IC Title shot, and the Canadian has now responded to that possibility.

Speaking on The Bump about challenging for Big E’s prize, Christian said:

“I don’t know. Looking how Big E is, maybe I won’t go after the Intercontinental Championship if I come back. Listen, I love Big E. He’s one of my favourite people in the entire world. So is Xavier Woods and Kofi. I love the New Day, I love all those guys. I’m so proud of what they’ve accomplished in the last few years, and yeah, you talk about a tag team match, and the backstage segments we could do with New Day would be super entertaining as well. But I can’t tip my hand on anything.”

The four-time Intercontinental Champion would continue on:

“Okay, yeah, I’m renting space in his head already. Good, I need all the advantage I can if that were the case. But I love Big E, he’s doing great things, and I look forward to him having a long Intercontinental Championship reign.”

In his four reigns to date, Christian has a total of 192 days as the Intercontinental Champion, with his last run with the title coming after he defeated Cody Rhodes at 2012’s Over the Limit PPV.

For what it’s worth, Big E has already passed Christian’s cumulative days as Intercontinental Champion. The New Day star is at 200+ days and counting – with a large part of that coming down to his 167-day initial reign with the title.
