Esports Events to Watch in 2022

Esports is slowly returning to the pre-pandemic state. Organizers have already begun announcing tentative dates for major events, and Esports Charts has compiled a calendar of the top 25 most anticipated esports events in 2022. If the pandemic situation does not worsen, most of them will be held offline and fans will have the opportunity to see their favorite teams in person.

The list of events will be regularly updated. For more information on the ongoing & upcoming events visit our tournament section.

January 2022:

LCK / LEC Spring. The Korean and European League of Legends spring splits will end on March 20 and April 10, respectively. They will determine the Mid-Season Invitational 2022 participants.

February 2022:

MPL Spring. Regular Spring seasons of MPL are to be held in various regions from February to late April; final matches in some regions will be played early May.

Call of Duty League 2022. The regular season of CDL 2022 consists of four stages (including majors) & mid-season events. The league kicked-off on February 4 & will run till late July, when the last major ends. After that the Championship Weekend will start, which will conclude the results of the season.

LCS Spring. North American League of Legends Championship Series started later than all the other top regional competitions, and the spring split of the event will end on April 24.  Organizers returned the Super Weeks battle format for the new season — teams play three matches three days in a row in this format.

Six Invitational 2022. The main Rainbow Six Siege event of the year will end on February 20. The event has been moved to Sweden from Canada due to quarantine restrictions. The tournament prize pool remained the same — $3 million.

IEM Katowice 2022. One of the most prestigious CS:GO tournaments will be held from February 15 to 27. Top CS:GO teams, including Natus Vincere, Team Vitality, G2 Esports, and Gambit Esports, will compete in the tournament for a $1 million prize pool. Note that IEM Katowice will also feature the final event in StarCraft II esports season.

The tournament will be the first in the series in a year since the fall championship was canceled. The prize pool has not been announced yet, but last year it was 2$ million. Recall that FFWS 2021 Singapore has set a record for Peak Viewers in esports (not taking into account the Chinese streaming platforms).

PGL Major Antwerp 2022. A new CS:GO major has only recently been announced, but the event is just a few months away. It will be held from May 9-22 in Belgium. This is the second tournament in a row that PGL is hosting.

Summer

Icons Global Championship 2022. Riot Games has announced a complete esports ecosystem for its mobile MOBA, League of Legends: Wild Rift, in the new year. Regional championships will run through May, and the season will culminate with the World Championship, which will presumably take place this summer or early fall.

Winter:

PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2022. We should expect the final tournament of the PUBG Mobile season approximately in December, yet no details are announced as of now.

M4 World Championship. The end of the year will also approximately see the final tournament of the season in ML:BB, last year’s most watched mobile discipline.

Hearthstone World Championship 2022. The final Hearthstone tournament of the season is also expected to take place in December. Last year’s event was the least watched in the history of the discipline, and in 2022 the official Battlegrounds tournaments are more likely to capture the audience’s attention.

Call of Duty Mobile World Championship 2022. Long-suffering world championship for the mobile version of Call of Duty has never been held in a combined format with the participation of teams from different countries.
