5 highest partnerships ODIs: Yesterday, the legendary Sachin and Dravid partnership turned 22 years old! Here are the 5 highest partnerships for India in ODIs!

Many Indian batters in ODI cricket over the years have stitched up memorable partnerships. One such partnership turned 22 years old yesterday.

So, we look at the 5 highest partnerships for India in ODI cricket:

#5 – Yuvraj-Dhoni (256 against England, 2017)

We will start with the most recent one. India were down at 25 for 3, when the old warhorses got together one final time, and scripted an epic comeback!

Dhoni, who recently had stepped down from white-ball captaincy, got along with his friend Yuvraj, as the wicketkeeper scored 134 off just 122 balls, while the southpaw scored 150 off just 127 balls!

Together they batted for more than 38 overs as India ended up with 381 for 6, and won the match by 15 runs.

#4 – Sachin-Ganguly (258 against Kenya, 2001)

Sachin and Sourav is probably the most iconic opening partnership of that generation. A left-hand and right-hand combination always makes life difficult for the bowlers.

This is exactly what Kenya had to deal with in the year 2001, when these scored a mammoth 258-run opening stand, which also happens to be the highest opening partnership for India in ODIs!

#3 – Azhar-Jadeja (275 against Zimbabwe, 1998)

Zimbabwe used to be a strong cricketing side throughout the 90s and the early 2000s. They had India on the mat early in this game. Sachin, Ganguly and Laxman all fell cheaply as India were 26 for 3 when skipper Azharuddin was joined by Ajay Jadeja.

The two played their strokes and batted the entire innings together to take India past the 300 mark. Azhar ended up with 153 not out and Jadeja with 116 not out!

Zimbabwe could only manage 269 in reply and lost by 32 runs.

#2 – Dravid-Ganguly (318 against Sri Lanka, 1999)

In the same year as our No.1 entry, there was another 300+ run-partnership involving two Indians. This one came in the World Cup no less!

Chaminda Vaas got rid of S Ramesh in the first over, and in came Dravid to join Ganguly. The two batted 44 overs together, and managed 318 runs together in that time!

Ganguly scored his career-best 183 and Dravid backed it up with a sublime 145!

India ended up with a mammoth total of 373/6 and won the game by a huge margin of 157 runs!

#1 – Sachin-Dravid (331 against New Zealand, 1999)

As mentioned in the opening lines, this epic run-fest completed 22 years yesterday! Played in Hyderabad, India lost Ganguly early to a run out.

Then in came Dravid and arguably the two best batters of that era showed us batting of the highest quality! They batted for more than 46 overs and added 331 runs to the total!

Sachin got to his career best of 186 not out, and Dravid also racked up 153 at run-a-ball! India ended up with 376 for 2!
