David Warner and SRH has been one of the best stories IPL has told us over the last few years. The Aussie southpaw racked up a massive 4,014 runs in 95 matches with the Orange Army, at an average of almost 50.
However, due to management issues and dip in the batter’s form this season, it is almost certain that SRH will not retain him before the mega auction takes place for IPL 2022.

#5 – One of the two new franchises
Let’s get the obvious one out of the way first! There are two new franchises coming up from the next season. We don’t know what the cities or who the owners are yet, but they will definitely need a captain around whom they’ll build their team.
And who better than an IPL-winning captain, who’s also an absolute run-machine? If Warner is indeed released by SRH, the new franchises with their higher purses will surely be the frontrunners to grab his services!
#4 – Royal Challengers Bangalore
Another team that will be looking for a new captain next season is RCB. Virat Kohli, their current captain, has already announced that he will not continue in the capacity of captain with RCB.
With that already being common knowledge, will we see the Royal Challengers go out of their way to secure the services of the talismanic southpaw?

#3 – Chennai Super Kings

Although his batting records speak for themselves, KL Rahul’s captaincy with the Punjab Kings has come under the scanner. Under his leadership, Punjab failed to qualify for the playoffs in both 2020 and 2021 seasons.
Therefore, the PBKS management might look for some leadership changes in the next cycle, and David Warner might just turn out to be the perfect foil for them!
