FA Cup: Everton beat Tottenham Hotspur 5-4 in a nine-goal classic

A 5th Round to savour from the FA Cup as Everton beat Tottenham in a thrilling 5-4 to advance to the next round.

Davinson Sánchez opened the scoring in the 3rd minute before D. Calvert- Lewin equalised in the 36th minute. Richarlison made in 2-1 in the 38th minute with a beautiful ball from Gylfi Sigurdsson. Hojbjerg made matters worse by tripping Calvert- Lewin in the box before Sigurdsson tucked home the penalty to make it 3-1. There was hope for Tottenham as Eric Lamela got a goal back before half time.

Davinson Sánchez restored parity by scoring another goal from a corner in the 57th minute. Richarlison doubled his tally for the night with a low shot which went in off the right-hand post in the 68th minute. Harry Kane made it 4-4 in the 83rd minute by getting his head onto an inch perfect cross from Son Heung-min.

It was Bernard in the 97th minute with the telling touch who made the difference as he scored the tie settling goal in extra time by smashing home a deft ball by Sigurdsson to send Everton through to the next round. Tottenham’s hopes for a title have been hit this season after their FA Cup exit whereas Everton march on in the hope for their next silverware, their first since the 1995 FA cup triumph.
