Serena Williams has reached the final at the last four Wimbledons she has played and the 39-year-old American is tougher to beat here than anywhere else. Aliaksandra Sasnovich has upset Wimbledon champions before and is a tough opponent but Williams is unlikely to lose.

Now 39, Williams is 12-4 in 2021. She reached the semifinals of the Australian Open, beating two top-10 players, before losing to Naomi Osaka.
At the French Open, she reached the round of 16 before losing to Elena Rybakina. Williams was always going to be much more formidable at Wimbledon, where her big serve shines to its greatest effect, than on clay. She should also not be troubled by a lack of warm-up matches, as she rarely plays grass-court tournaments before Wimbledon.
One opponent that Williams will not face in her bid to create history in SW19, will be the athlete who beat her to the title in 2019 – Simona Halep.
The Romanian, who tore her left calf muscle during a match in Rome in May, announced directly before the draw took place that she is not fit and cannot compete at this year’s Wimbledon Championships.

Aliaksandra Sasnovich is a streaky and inconsistent player but she has scored five victories against top-10 players, including beating former champion Petra Kvitova at Wimbledon.
Sasnovich thrives on faster courts and is an excellent mover and defender. The Belarusian has lost her last seven matches against top-10 players, however.
Sasnovich made back-to-back quarterfinals at the WTA 125k in Saint Malo and the WTA 250 in Belgrade. But apart from that she has not won back-to-back matches all season. She also lost her only warm-up grass-court match in Berlin, to world no. 176 Priscilla Hon.
