Alonso’s late goal guide Chelsea to win over Manchester City by 2-1, Chelsea still in top 4.

Chelsea beats Manchester City 2-1: Chelsea managed to reverse the position to beat Manchester City with a score of 2-1 in the 35th week of the 2020/21 Premier League duel, Saturday (8/5/2021).

Playing at the Etihad Stadium, Man City had the lead through Raheem Sterling at the end of the first half (44 ‘), but Chelsea were able to reverse their position in the second half through Hakim Ziyech (63’) and Marcos Alonso (90 + 2 ‘).

This result forced Man City to postpone their championship party a little longer, while Chelsea earned 3 important points in the competition to secure the Champions League zone.

First round

The match was intense in the first 10 minutes.  Man City pounded and locked Chelsea who could only wait for the opportunity to counterattack.

Several opportunities were obtained by Man City, but Chelsea could still stop them.  The 17th minute Man City almost scored a goal, Chelsea were still confined to their own playing area.

20 minutes of intense goalless streak seemed a little tiring.  The tempo of the match began to decline, it was Chelsea’s turn to dominate the ball from the 30th minute.

Chelsea had a number of mature opportunities in the 33rd and 43rd minutes, but Ederson was still able to stop the ball.

In contrast, Man City finally scored the first goal in the 44th minute.  With a quick counter-attack, Jesus’ bait drags out of control by Aguero but Sterling can finish.  Goal! Man City 1-0 Chelsea.

Second round

The match restarts on a more balanced basis. Chelsea were more attacking, Man City seemed a little lost in tempo.

Until the 60th minute, Chelsea continued to press Man City.  Chelsea’s attacks are pretty neat, but they haven’t been able to split the hosts’ defense.

The 63rd minute, Man City’s efforts finally paid off.  The attack is built from behind, Ziyech takes Azpilicueta’s pass from the right to fire a low shot into the bottom right corner.  Goal!  Man City 1-1 Chelsea.

This goal made Chelsea more confident.  In the 73rd minute, James’s cross was almost greeted by Werner and became the second goal.

Fun attacking, Man City conceded at the end of the match.  Starting from Hudson-Odoi’s movement, Werner sent a bait from the right to greet Alonso.  Goal!  Man City 1-2 Chelsea in the 90 + 2 minute.

This goal at the same time closed the match.  The referee blew the long whistle.  Score 2-1 to win Chelsea.
