Copa America final: 5 things and records we learnt from ARG vs BRA Final


Argentina vs Brazil: Lionel Messi finally managed to lift a major international trophy as Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 to win the Copa América 2021 title.

An empty-Maracana stadium could not silence the noise and celebrations from Messi and Co as they lifted their first major championship since winning the Copa title in 1993.

Ángel Di Maria’s 22nd minute strike was enough as La Albiceleste registered their 15th Copa América title.

The Argentina captain started off the match with a record itself as he equaled the record for most appearances in Copa Matches, along with Sergio Livingstone of Chile.

Messi made his 34th Argentina appearance in this competition which got him equal to this record.

Lionel Messi was also awarded the Best player award as he finished the tournament with 4 goals and 5 assists.

The Argentine also finished the tournament with most assists in a single Copa event, 5.

Argentina equaled Uruguay for most Copa titles won in the history of the competition with 15 titles each.

Golden Glove award

ImageEmiliano Martinez won the Golden Glove for most clean-sheets in the competition, 4.

With this, he became the first Argentina goalkeeper to win the Golden Glove since the award’s introduction.

Cristiano Ronaldo-Lionel Messi titles

Ronaldo and Messi have now won an international trophy each with the Euro 2016 and Copa 2021 titles respectively on the same day, 10th July.

Brazil home record
