Arsenal beat Chelsea: Chelsea surprisingly fell 0-1 from Arsenal in Week 36 of the 2020-21 Premier League at Stamford Bridge, Thursday (13/05/2021) early morning IST.
In this derby match, Chelsea made seven changes from the squad that last dueled against Manchester City. Meanwhile Arsenal made five changes from the team that previously competed against West Brom.
The only goal in this match was produced by Emile Smith Rowe. This goal was the fruit of Jorginho’s mistake.
First round
Arsenal dominated possession at the start of the match. But Chelsea did not stay silent and also tried not to make the Gunners freely develop their game.
In the 11th minute, Chelsea had a golden opportunity through Havertz. He broke through the Arsenal offside trap and ran alone into the Gunners penalty box. Unfortunately the ball kicked high.
Five minutes later disaster struck. Jorginho backpasses Kepa when an Arsenal player approaches. Unfortunately the ball was aimed at the goal while Kepa moved to the left in anticipation of the Italian player’s pass.
Kepa can still run to block the ball before it crosses the goal line. However, the ball is controlled by Aubameyang. He then passes the ball to Emile Smith Rowe. With his left foot shot, the Chelsea goal collapsed 0-1.
Chelsea then tried to press. Their game improved and got a number of opportunities. One of them is from Mount. Unfortunately, Leno still able to kick the ball.
In the 36th minute, Mount also got the opportunity again. He had a chance to break a wild ball after Chilwell’s pass was deflected by Leno. Unfortunately the ball was still blocked by Elneny and failed to produce a goal.
In the end, no more goals were created in this round. Chelsea 0-1 Arsenal.

In the second half, Chelsea changed their tactics. They made a good start.
In the 61st minute, Pulisic can finally score a reply, taking advantage of Havertz’s assist. However the goal was ruled out by VAR after he was declared offside.
The two teams then tried to change their respective tactics. Chelsea tried to play more aggressively by including Giroud and Ziyech. Meanwhile Arsenal entered Bellerin.
