Atlético Madrid beats Real Valladolid by 2-1, becomes new La Liga Champions. 

Atlético Madrid wins the 11th La Liga title, beats Real Valladolid by 2-1.

Atletico Madrid win La Liga: Atlético Madrid beat Valladolid 2-1 and ensured they won their first La Liga title since 2013/14.

Goals from Correa and Suárez sealed the deal but not before Plano gave them a moment of panic when he opened the scoring.

Simeone’s men kept the push on and eventually reached the finishing line as they won the La Liga title by 2 points.

FIRST HALF

The game got underway with Atlético knowing that only a victory would matter.

Atlético took possession and tried to get into scoring opportunities but the Valladolid defence was upto the task.
Valladolid had the first opportunity of the match through Villa, but Oblak made the save from his shot.

It was a lovely solo run from Villa as he tried to scored from a distance but to no avail.

As the game moved on, Valladolid grew in confidence and broke the deadlock in the 18th minute.

The home side hit Atlético on the counter to open the scoring.

De Sousa released the Spanish international, who scored past Oblak to give the home side a 1-0 lead.

He was one-on-one with the Atlético keeper and did not falter as he placed his shot in the bottom-corner.

Simeone’s side were not able to create much and lacked potency.

Masip made an easy save from Gimenez’s header as this was the only attempt from the visitors.

Weissman could have doubled the lead for Valladolid but his header was straight at Oblak.

The Israel international got in between the visitors’ defence but not direct his header properly.

Valladolid took the game to Atlético and did not look to defend their lead.
The half ended with Atlético lacking any attacking impetus.

SECOND HALF

Atlético hit the ground running in the second half as they looked to get back into the match.

They equalized through Correa as the Argentine poked home from close range to the visitors back into the title race.
Luis Suarez doubled the lead as Atlético stormed into jubilation to make it 2-1.

A wayward pass from Guardiola set Suarez free over the halfway line. The forward made no mistake and coolly slotted past the keeper to give the visitors a title winning lead.

There were not many chances post the 2 goals as Atlético held on for the rest of the match.

Simeone kept on pushing his players to get back and defend well as the clock ticked down.

Atlético Madrid beat Valladolid 2-1 and became the new champions of the La Liga for the 2020/21 season.
