MATCH PREVIEW:
Benfica come into this on the back of consecutive wins against Casa Pia and Almeria in their previous warm up fixtures.
The Portuguese side beat Almeria 2-1 in a close contest with Pizzi and Waldschmidt getting on the scoresheet for Benfica.
Villar pulled one back for Almeria but it proved to be a mere consolation goal.
The 3rd place side in last season’s Liga Portugal have got off to just the start they needed and Jesus will look to continue with the winning habit against Ligue 1 holders, Lille.
On the other hand, the French champions have been topsy-turvy in their warm-up matches winning and losing one each.
After a good win against Waasland-Beveren, Lille eked out a draw against Belgian side, Kortrijk 1-1.
Chevalier’s goal was cancelled out by Yazici six minutes from time to help Lille share the spoils.
Lille is a confident unit and will look to get back to winning ways ahead of this clash.
If they need to regain the Ligue 1 title this season, a good practice ahead of the season is a must and Lille have the players for the same.
Both sides last met in a club friendly way back in 2012 with the score-line being 0-0 after 90 minutes.
Line-ups
Benfica:
Helton, Grimaldo, Vertonghen, Verissimo, Gilberto, Weigl, Pizzi, Mario, Jota, Rafa and Seferovic.
Lille:
Jardim, Reinildo, Botman, Djalo, Celik, Xeka, Andre, Bamba, Yazici, Ikone and David.
Prediction: Benfica 1-2 Lille
Even with the absence of Yilmaz, Lille should edge this one but not without Benfica giving it to them in this contest.
Benfica can make it 3 in 3 but a strong Lille side will be hard to get past.
Both sides have good quality in their ranks but the French side’s experience can prove vital.
