  • The blues have won four of their five competitive matches this season.
  • Leicester have only won one of their last four in all competitions, losing twice.
  • Three of Brighton’s last four games have been won to nil.

Potter repays Seagulls’ faith

Brighton endured a difficult season last term as they finished 16th in the Premier League table but their faith in Graham Potter finally seems to have paid off. With the highly-rated manager taking the Seagulls to sixth in the table.

The system Potter put in place was clearly a promising one even during last season’s darkest spells. And it’s telling that they actually had the third-best defensive record in the league on expected goals. With their accursed luck on the turn, Brighton will be heading into this game quietly confident of their chances.

Their only defeat in any competition this season came at home to Everton before the international break. With them winning all four of their other fixtures and keeping three clean sheets.

Mixed bag for the Foxes

Leicester, on the other hand, have had a mixed start to the season. They won the Community Shield back in August but have only triumphed twice in their five matches since, which includes a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of West Ham on gameweek two.

Brendan Rodgers’ most recent disappointed came on Thursday as he watched his side throw away a two goal lead to draw with Napoli in the Europa League. That is by no means a catastrophic result, but when their only win in their last four games came against bottom-of-the-table Norwich it is a slight concern.

Home win on the cards at the Amex

The Foxes have conceded eight goals in their last four competitive games and they’re coming up against a Brighton side that have been excellent at the back this season, keeping three clean sheets in their last four. The Seagulls have only failed to score once, so backing a home win here looks a solid proposition.

Brighton beat Brentford 1-0 last weekend and with their recent clean sheet record a similar outcome is expected, especially with Leicester’s last defeat being by that same 1-0 scoreline.
