MATCH PREVIEW:
Chelsea faces another London rival in Tottenham Hotspur in their final pre-season match on Thursday at the Bridge, as the Blues look to enter the next season with confidence.
The Blues picked up a valuable win against Arsenal in their previous match 2-1 at the Emirates.
Havertz and Xhaka cancelled each other’s strikes but Abraham popped up with the winner in the 72nd minute to give the Blues another victory in pre-season.
Chelsea has won all their matches in this campaign and will look to finish off in style with another win against Tottenham.
On the other hand, Tottenham also picked up a 3-1 win over MK Dons in their last match on Thursday with Son, Ali and Moura getting onto the scoresheet.
Nuno Sanchez would be in good spirits with successive wins and aims to continue the good run from the North London side.
The absence of Harry Kane continued to make the headlines, but Nuno will hope his side looks at the positives and continues the preparations.
Tottenham has one more pre-season match against Arsenal before their curtain raiser against Man City.
Hence, Nuno would eye consistency from his new side as Spurs look to mount a challenge next season.
The Blues have the upper hand in terms of H2H and last season Chelsea managed to pick up a win against Spurs 1-0 away from home.
Jorginho’s first half penalty proved enough for the Blues in that clash.
Line-ups
Chelsea:
Bettinelli, Azpilicueta, Silva, Rudiger, Hudson-Odoi, Kovacic, Kanté, Pulisic, Mount, Havertz and Werner
Tottenham:
Whiteman, Doherty, Tanganga, Carter-Vickers, Reguilon, Skipp, John, Moura, Alli, Bergwijn and Son
Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham
Tottenham are still getting to grips under Nuno and hence could be just a little out of touch in this one.
Chelsea’s winning record in pre-season is expected to increase and we see them pick up a win against another London rival in succession.
Tuchel’s men look the more balanced and threatening team on the back of their UCL success and returning Euro players.
