CSK vs KKR Highlights: The 15th season of IPL has started. Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Chennai Super Kings in the first match of IPL 2022.

The captaincy innings has not started well for the new captain of CSK, Ravindra Jadeja. They had to lose the toss as well as the match in the first match.

Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Chennai Super Kings by six wickets in the first match of IPL 2022.

Batting first after losing the toss, Chennai scored 131 runs for five wickets in 20 overs thanks to an unbeaten 50 from Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

In reply, Kolkata chased down the target in 18.3 overs for the loss of four wickets. Ajinkya Rahane scored 44 runs for KKR.

Batting first, Chennai did not start well. Rituraj Gaikwad scored zero, Devon Conway for three runs, Robin Uthappa for 28 runs, Ambati Rayudu for 15 runs and Shivam Dubey got out for three runs. Chennai had lost five wickets for 61 runs. After this Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja made an unbeaten partnership of 70 runs in 56 balls.

Dhoni and Jadeja added 58 runs in the last five overs. Jadeja remained unbeaten on 26 off 28 balls. He hit a six off the last ball of the 20th over. For Kolkata, Umesh Yadav took two wickets, while Varun Chakraborty-Andre Russell got one wicket each.

Dhoni scored a half-century in 38 balls. He remained unbeaten on 50 off 38 balls with the help of seven fours and a six.

This was the 24th half-century of Dhoni’s IPL career. He scored a fifty in IPL after 35 months. The last fifty he made was against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 21 April 2019.

KKR defeated CSK by 6 wickets

Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer gave a good start to Kolkata’s team chasing the target of 132 runs. The partnership of 43 runs for the first wicket between the two. Dwayne Bravo sent Venkatesh to the pavilion. After this Nitish Rana hit some great shots, but Bravo also sent him to the pavilion.

Nitish was dismissed after scoring 21 runs in 17 balls. Rahane, after getting a good start, could not convert it into a big score and missed out on a half-century. Rahane was dismissed for 44 runs off 34 balls. He hit six fours and a six in his innings. Sam Billings and Shreyas Iyer together took Kolkata’s innings past 100 runs.

Billings was dismissed for 25 runs off 22 balls. After this, captain Shreyas Iyer and Sheldon Jackson together gave Kolkata victory.

Shreyas remained unbeaten on 20 off 19 balls and Sheldon scored three runs. Bravo took three wickets for Chennai. At the same time, Mitchell Santner got a wicket.

With this Bravo equalled Lasith Malinga’s record for most wickets in IPL. Both currently have 170-170 wickets to their name. Amit Mishra is at number two. He took 166 wickets in his IPL career.
