Dale Steyn Retirement: South African fast bowler Dale Steyn on Tuesday announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Steyn has taken 439 wickets in 93 Test matches, 196 wickets in 125 ODIs and 64 wickets in 47 T20Is for South Africa. He retired from Test cricket in August 2019.

Steyn made his ODI debut at Centurion in 2005 against Asia XI while playing for Africa XI. His best figure is six wickets for 39 runs against Pakistan in 2013. Steyn made his T20 debut against New Zealand in 2007. He took four wickets for 9 runs in 3 overs in his second T20 match against West Indies, which is the best figure of his career.

Steyn’s last ODI was against Sri Lanka in 2019, while he played his last ODI in T20 against Australia in February last year.

Steyn issued a statement saying, “Today I am officially retiring from the game I love the most. A little disappointed, but lucky. Thank you all, from my family to my teammates, From journalists to my fans who have supported me in this lovely journey.”
