Netherlands 3-1 USA: Netherlands seal a place in the Quarter-finals of the World Cup 2022 on Saturday when they beat USA 3-1 in their RO 16 match.
Denzel Dumfries led the way for the Dutch side as he assisted the first two goals of Depay and Blind before scoring the third for his side. Wright’s strike for USA proved to be a mere consolation effort at the end of full time.
FIRST HALF
Depay broke the deadlock in the 10th minute when he finished off a wonderful move by burying Dumfries’ cross ball into the bottom left-corner.

Dumfries set up Dutch’s second goal as well when his cut-ball was completed by Blind in fine fashion to double the lead. The winger was a menace to the USA defence as he managed to unlock it on both occasions.
SECOND HALF
Netherlands could have finished the game off much earlier but for some good stops from Turner.
USA also had some chances in the second half as well and threatened the Dutch goal but Noppert was up to the task as he made some fine saves.
Wright pulled one back for USA in the 76th minute when Pulisic’s cut-back ball looped into the net off Wright, with the latter knowing very little. This got the USA fans believing that a come-back was on.

However in the 81st minute, Dumfries settled the contest when he scored from Blind’s cross with a steered finish past Turner as he was all alone behind USA’s defence. This ended the American dream as Netherlands set up a Q/F with Argentina/Australia.
