ENG vs IND: Till the end of Day 2 at Oval, India has scored 43 runs without losing a wicket in the second innings and now they are 56 runs behind the English team’s first innings score.

What Happened Day 1& 2

Fast bowlers dominated Day 2 of the fourth Test between England and India at the Kennington Oval in London. India suffered yet another batting collapse after the Three Lions asked them to bat first on a challenging track.

As a result, the visiting team got bundled out for just 191 runs. However, Indian pacers did use the new ball brilliantly and took three quick wickets.

At stumps, England were 53/3, trailing by 138 runs. Although the scoreline suggests the home team has an upper hand, the track is still assisting the fast bowlers. Hence, the English middle-order has some job to do on the second day.

What Can We expect on Day 3

It must be noted this match holds great significance. The five-match series is currently poised at 1-1 after the first three games. This means the winner of the fourth Test would take an unassailable 2-1 lead.

Hence, both teams must unleash their best show in the upcoming days. Speaking of the proceedings of DAY 3, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul were positive at the start. Both batters played some brilliant shots against the new ball before Rohit fell prey to Chris Woakes. This dismissal turned the tide on England’s favour as India suffered another batting failure.

Skipper Virat Kohli was the lone warrior in the middle as he played some delightful shots. He even reached the 50-run mark and looked all set to enhance his tally. However, Ollie Robinson accounted for his wicket and the Three Lions tightened their grip. At 127/7, India were tottering and many didn’t back them to even reach 150.

However, Shardul Thakur stunned one and all with a magnificent cameo. Batting at number eight, the pacer went after the bowlers from the outset and scored runs all over the park. He scored a fiery fifty as India reached a respectable total of 191. In reply, England also got off to a terrible start with Jasprit Bumrah dismissing both openers early.

While Dawid Malan and Joe Root tried steadying the ship, the latter was dismissed at the fag end of day’s play. Hence, the hosts finished the day at 53/3 and it will be interesting to see how the second day pans out.
