ENG vs IND: Shubman Gill suffers with an internal injury, likely to miss first Test

Shubman Gill Injury: India had to face defeat in the final of the World Test Championship against New Zealand. After this defeat, now on the tour of England, the Indian team has to play a 5-match Test series against the hosts England.

But before this series, Team India has suffered a major setback.

Shubman Gill may miss the Test series

Indian opener Shubman Gill could be ruled out of the five-match series against England with an undisclosed internal injury and could be replaced by Abhimanyu Mithun, who is currently ‘stand by’.  It is not clear whether Gill needs to undergo an operation before the series starts on August 4.

Gill got injured

A senior Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official said on the condition of confidentiality, ‘Shubman Gill is likely to be out of the entire Test series, although it still has a month’s time.

As far as we know the injury is serious. It is believed that Gill has a calf injury or a problem with his hamstring which will take time to heal.

It is not known when he got this injury.  Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul are the other two openers in the team.  If Gill is out, Easwaran can get a place in the main team.

Gill struggling with poor form

Shubman Gill failed miserably in the final of the Test Championship.  Gill scored 28 runs in the first innings of this match while only 8 runs in the second innings.  Not only this, in the home series against England before this match, Gill scored 119 runs in 4 matches with the bat.  During this, only one half-century came out of his bat.
