England play out a stalemate against Scotland in Euro 2020 match ; ends 0-0


England 0-0 Scotland: It was not the best of shows at Wembley as England played out a 0-0 draw against Scotland in their Group D match on Friday.

Scotland put in a fantastic performance while England were very labored in their attack and could not threaten the opponents for most of the match.

FIRST HALF

Scotland began the half in a bright manner as they kept England under pressure for the first 10 minutes.

ImageStones had the first chance for England but his header from Mount’s corner rattled the post as Scotland breathed a sigh of relief.

England tried to get up-field quickly but Scotland were putting in a good shift to close down their opponents.

Pickford was called into action for the first time as he made a good stop to keep out O’Donnell’s strike.

The home side were unable to threaten the Scotland goal for most of the half while Scotland were comfortable in their approach.

Both sides went into half locked at 0-0 with Scotland having a better half in terms of performance.

SECOND HALF

England started the second half in a positive manner as they looked to break the deadlock.

Marshall was called into action in the 48th minute as he made a good save to deny Mount.

As the half progressed, England looked frustrated as they could not break down the Scotland defence.

ImageEngland had to thank Tyrone Mings in the 62nd minute as the defender was in the right place to clear Dykes’ shot off the line.

The Scots were resilient and courageous in their approach in making England’s attack look sluggish.

ImageKane and Co did not threaten much up the field for most of the remainder of the half as Scotland were quiet comfortable.

It finished 0-0 as both sides shared the spoils in this contest. Scotland opened their account in the Euro 2020 with this draw.

England, on the other hand need to pick up their level of performance against Czech Republic on Wednesday.
