Matches being cancelled after a number of Covid positive tests, drop in performance levels through bubble measures has created a major disturbance in revenue share of Premier League clubs.

Many clubs have lost their fair share of revenue during these times; due to which a dip in stadium capacity is also visible.

We look at the Top 5 Premier League clubs who have lost Revenue per home game this season.

Manchester City

The Premier League leaders have been performing exemplarily this season and continue to shatter records with elite performance levels.

Etihad Stadium has a max capacity of 55,017 but the average empty seats this season has been 2465/home game.

As a result of which, Manchester City have incurred a loss of £86000 through empty seats. Expensive ticket prices could be a major reason why much of them go unsold.

Manchester City is currently top of the table in the EPL 2021-22 season and hope to see more of their fans in the remainder of the season.

Burnley FC

Burnley is at the bottom of the Premier League table this season due to their woeful performances and inability to register wins.

With just 1 win from 18 matches, Dyche’s men seem to be on their way out. The passionate fans of have a right to demand better performances from the club, due to which many are absent from matches.

Turf Moor has a max capacity of 21,944 but have an average of 3393 seats/home game.

Unless, the club do not raise their standards on the pitch the figure mentioned could keep rising.

Southampton FC

The Saints are also part of this list with a revenue of £108000 lost due to empty seats.

Southampton have continued to improve per season and create a difference but have fallen flat on various occasions.

Saint Mary’s capacity stands at 32,384 but with 3,388 average empty seats/home game, the club’s earnings have taken a hit.

Chelsea FC

The Blues entered this season as Champions League holders and with the addition of quality talent looked the side to beat.

Stamford Bridge has seen a £154000 lost per home game due to the empty seats. Fans have been reluctant to return even after restrictions have been lifted.

With an average of 3282 seats left empty/home match, the above-mentioned earning has certainly left the hierarchy hurt. Stadium Capacity being 40834.

Tottenham Hotspur

At the top of the pile is another London Club in Tottenham, who incur the highest losses per home game due to unsold tickets.

In their new stadium, Spurs have a seating capacity of 62850, however the average empty seats per home match stands at 8284.

This has resulted in a £165000 loss to the club, which is massive given the new project and stadium of Tottenham since their shift from White Hart Lane.

Since December 5th 2021, Spurs have not been able to field more than 45,603 people for their matches.

Despite the move to a bigger stadium and bringing in better facilities, the North London side seeing such a downfall in earnings is a cause for concern.

On the other hand, Tottenham saw the sacking of Nuno Santo and arrival of Antonio Conte at their club.

But it is still taking a while for the Spurs faithful to fill up the seats in the stadium.

Other top clubs lost revenue are: Crystal Palace (£66k), Watford (£60k), Leeds United (£40k), West Ham (£39k), Newcastle United (£38k).
