The UEFA Euro 2020 Group F also known as ‘Group of Death’ is tantalizingly poised currently as we enter the last set of group stages matches this week.

Group F consists of Portugal, Germany, France and Hungary; all of whom have performed admirably through their performances.

At the current moment, the group standings go as follows:

‘Group of Death’ Euro 2020

  • France- 4 Points

  • Germany- 3 points

  • Portugal-3 points

  • Hungary- 1 point

All teams have played 2 games each and have their chances of securing qualification for the knockouts.

Sadly, one team will bow out of this group at the end of Thursday 24th June, 2021 as the league stage of the competition ends.

We look at the probabilities of each side’s qualification hopes as the Group stage reaches it conclusion in this coming week.

FRANCE

ImageThe French side began their campaign with an important 1-0 win over Germany followed by a stalemate 1-1 against Hungary.

This left Les Bleus on 4 points after 2 matches. They now face Portugal in their last match of Group F.

A win for them sends them through to the Round of 16 knockouts stage.

If France loses their last match, they will need other result (Hungary vs Germany) to favor them so as to qualify as top 2 of Group F.

GERMANY

ImageGermany lost their opener vs France 1-0 before picking up an important win against Portugal 4-2 in their second match.

Die Mannschaft now face 3 points from 2 matches as they face Hungary in their final match.

A win for Germany will seal their spot in the Round of 16 whereas a loss could make them search for other results to help them.

But we expect German to utilize their experience and not leave this to the other group teams.

PORTUGAL

This means Portugal have 3 points from 2 matches and would need to beat France in their final match to seal a berth in the Round of 16 hopes.

A Seleção will not want to leave their Round of 16 hopes on the basis of other results.

UEFA Euro 2020 Round of 16 will include the top 2 teams from all 6 groups, which makes it 12 teams.

The remainder of the 4 teams which will include the top 4 3rd place sides with the most points.

Group F is so narrowly poised that we could well see a surprise. The drama concludes on 24th June, 2021.

Stay Tuned!!!!!!!
