FA Cup news: Chelsea beat Manchester City 1-0 in semi-finals, reach final


Chelsea reached their fourth FA Cup final in five seasons as the Blues beat Manchester City 1-0 in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday.
Ziyech scored the only goal of the match in the 55th minute to send Chelsea to another FA Cup final. This defeat ended City’s hopes of a Quadruple this campaign.
ImageChelsea was the better team from the start of proceedings and looked the sharper outfit of the two sides.
The Blues thought they had scored the opener in the 5th minute but VAR adjudged Werner to be offside in the build-up the goal.
Tuchel’s men had the first big chance in the 19th minute but Chilwell volleyed his shot just wide of Steffan’s goal.
The Blues were the more energetic and better side in the first half as they created better chances and looked more assured on the ball.
City were not able to control play or make any clear chances throughout the half.
Fernandinho missed his chance to score right at the stroke of half time as he glanced his header wide of the target.
ImageDe Bruyne limped off the field due to an apparent ankle injury in second half. Chelsea took the sting out of the game with his absence and began to control play more and eventually found the back of the net.
ImageImageZiyech opened the scoring for Chelsea as he tapped into the empty net to draw first blood.
Mount sent a brilliant through ball to Werner. The German squared the ball to Ziyech, who tapped home.

Ziyech missed an easy one-on-one chance to double the lead.
City slowly picked up pace towards the end of proceedings and could not create any goal-scoring opportunities.
The Blues nearly doubled their lead in extra time through Pulisic, but was flagged offside.
Rodri nearly got the equalizer but his header was parried away by Kepa to safety.
ImageIt was a victory which Chelsea deserved on all aspects due to their overall play and tactics. The Blues are to face either Leicester City or Southampton in the final.
