India Semi-final Qualification Scenarios: India have lost both their matches so far comprehensively! However, they still have a chance to qualify for the semis. Here are the possible scenarios for the same!
After another disappointing loss for India against New Zealand, they have been put on the brink on elimination even though they have played only 2 games.
Currently Pakistan, Afghanistan and even New Zealand themselves make a stronger case for qualification into the last 4 than India.
India are at that stage now where they not only need to win their own games handsomely, but also need to expect certain other results going their way.
Here is a country-wise analysis of the scenario under which India can still qualify:

India
Let’s talk about the controllables first. India need to win all 3 of their remaining matches by a margin of at least 90 runs to improve their net run rate significantly, which currently lies at a poor -1.609.
Afghanistan
Apart from India’s remaining matches, the Indian fans’ eyes will also be on the match on the evening of 7th November – Afghanistan taking on New Zealand.
India has to rely on their Asian neighbours doing them a favour, because if New Zealand wins, it will be next to impossible for India to advance to the next round!
New Zealand
From the Kiwis, India’s only hope will be a loss against the Afghans. If that happens, then their wins against Scotland and Namibia even by a margin of 50+ runs will not help New Zealand overtake India, given the above two situations play out exactly as mentioned!

From the associate nations, India’s only hope is that they get defeated convincingly by them. Their net run rate or points will, in no other fashion, impact India’s chances.
Pakistan
No expectations for the Indians from them. They have already all but booked a place for themselves in the semis, so it will be in the best interest of India, Afghanistan and New Zealand if they keep on winning.
