ICC T20 World Cup 2021 Afghanistan Squad: Rashid Khan step downs as Afghanistan Captain just after team announced
Rashid Khan Afghanistan: The Afghanistan cricket team has suffered a major setback ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup.
Shortly after the T20 squad was announced, skipper Rashid Khan also announced his resignation. There has been an uproar ever since the news of this came on social media.
The situation is not going well in Afghanistan at the moment, in such a situation, the removal of the captain just before a big match like the World Cup is a big setback for the team and the board.
The team for the T20 World Cup was announced by the Afghanistan Cricket Board on Thursday evening. Rashid was not included in the team selection, nor was his consent taken. Rashid shared the news of leaving his captaincy by tweeting.
His Tweet:

He wrote in a post, “As a captain and responsible citizen, it is my right to be included in the team selection. My consent was not taken by the selection committee and ACB, the team which has been announced by ACB media. I am Afghanistan’s T20 team. I am taking the decision to step down as captain of the U.K. with immediate effect. It has always been a matter of pride for me to play for Afghanistan.”

The star spinner openly warned the cricket board that if he wants to retain the captain of the team, then he should also participate in the team selection.
With the cricket board announcing the team selection without informing the captain, it is bound to raise questions on both the selection committee and the cricket board.
