ICC T20 World Cup 2021: Matthew Hayden & Vernon Philander become new coaches of PCB team

Matthew Hayden & Vernon Philander: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a big decision for the T20 World Cup to take place in October. For the upcoming World Cup, the PCB has appointed former Australian batsman Matthew Hayden and former South African fast bowler Vernon Philander as the new coaches of the team.

Matthew Hayden and Philander have been appointed as the team’s new batting and bowling coaches. After Pakistan’s head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis recently resigned as the coach.

At the same time, the PCB has included Saqlain Mushtaq and Abdul Razzaq in the team as interim coaches for the New Zealand series.

Chief selector and Ramiz Raja gave this decision on 13 September. Ramiz Raja has recently replaced Ehsan Mani as the chief selector of the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Cricket career of Matthew Hayden and Vernon Philander

Matthew Hayden was considered one of the most dangerous openers in the world in his time. On the other hand, if we talk about Philander, then he has been able to trouble the world’s legendary batsmen with his fast pace and swing.

Matthew Hayden has played 103 Tests, 161 ODIs and 9 T20Is for Australia.
* Hayden has scored 8625 runs in Tests, 6133 runs in ODIs and 308 runs in T20s.
At the same time, Vernon Philander played 64 Tests, 30 ODIs and 7 T20 matches for South Africa.
* He managed to take 224 Tests, 41 ODIs and 4 T20 wickets.

The Pakistan team is present in Group B in this World Cup. India, Afghanistan and New Zealand are in this group along with Pakistan. While the two teams will decide through qualifiers.

Pakistan will play its first match in the World Cup against India on October 24. Pakistan’s team was successful in winning the T20 World Cup title for the first time in 2009.
