New Zealand have a busy schedule on their hands, as once they play the final of the T20 World Cup, they will tour India for a T20I series from Wednesday.
With many major Indian players expected to be rested, many of them have got their maiden call for these series.
Here are 5 such players who we’ll see for the first time in India colours:
KS Bharat
The wicketkeeper-batter has been around in the traveling reserves for same. After a stellar UAE leg of IPL 2021 where he scored 191 runs in 8 matches, he has been picked for the 2 Test series against New Zealand.
He will be a backup keeper to Wriddhiman Saha in the series, and we will hope he gets to make his much-awaited debut.
Ruturaj Gaikwad
The Maharashtrian opener has been in brilliant form recently. He also won the Orange Cap in IPL 2021, scoring 635 runs at 45.35 average.
Because of these accolades, he has been rewarded a place in the T20 squad against New Zealand.
Venkatesh Iyer
The southpaw all-rounder has been a revelation in Indian cricket, ever since the UAE leg of the IPL 2021. In 10 games, he scored 370 runs at an average of 41.11! He also took 4 wickets in these games.
Avesh Khan
The fast bowler from Madhya Pradesh has had a stellar run in IPL 2021. He ended up being the second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament, taking 24 wickets in 16 games. He averaged 18.75 at an economy of 7.37!
Avesh will relish the opportunity that has been given to him in this series.
Harshal Patel
The Haryana pacer is having a dream run, late in his career. He claimed a record-equalling 32 wickets in IPL 2021 in 15 games, averaging only 14.34 while doing so!
He will be a welcome addition to the Indian squad, in these T20I series against the Kiwis!
