India ICC Finals: ICC tournaments are a precious place in international cricket. In which all Top cricketing nations come and play some brilliant cricket to win the precious ICC trophy. ODI World Cup, T20I World Cup, and Champions Trophy are the main ICC events. Meanwhile, the World Test Championship is a new addition to major ICC events.

Australia is the most successful country in an ICC tournament with 7 trophies in the Senior group followed by India. India has an old legacy in 1983 when India Won the first-ever cricket world cup under the captaincy of Kapil Dev.

Dev was followed by many captains for India who led India in ICC tournaments. Let’s see this now about the captains who captained India in the ICC tournament finals.

India ICC Finals:

Kapil Dev (1983 WC):

Kapil Dev is a former Indian captain who is known for his medium-pace bowling and hard-hitting batting in the middle overs. He is the first captain who won the ICC trophy for India. No one can pass over that emotion of a lifting WC trophy at Lord’s balcony back in 1983.

Sourav Ganguly (2000 CT, 2002 CT, 2003 WC): 

After Kapil Dev Ganguly was the second captain who took Team India nearer to another ICC Trophy. Price of Kolkata led team India in three ICC finals. For the first time in 2000, India lost a Knockout Trophy final against New Zealand by 4 wickets in a nail-biting encounter. In 2002 CT Once again dada took his team into the final but the final finished with no result. In the final of the 2003 World Cup, Dada’s team India had to face defeat at the hands of Ricky Ponting’s Australia. 

MS Dhoni (2007 T20 WC, 2011 WC, 2013 CT, 2014 T20 WC):

Mahi captained the Indian team in limited-overs from 2007 to 2016. The blasting right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman has given India many trophies and many memorable moments that one Indian fan can cherish for his lifetime. MS Dhoni has a record of winning all the major ICC tournaments of ICC. He led his country to victory in the three ICC finals. 2007 T-20 WC then 2011 WC and, then 2013 CT.  And in 2914 T20I WC India finished as a runner-up under the leadership of Thala.

Virat Kohli ( 2017 CT, 2021 WTC):

The run machine of India and current skipper of the Indian national side, King Kohli will be the greatest of all in cricket history. But unfortunately, he still has not managed to bring that one ICC trophy into his trophy cabinet for India. Nevertheless, he took his team to two ICC finals where they were disappointed. Virat headed into the finals of 2017 CT and then inaugural 2021 WTC.
