IPL 2021: Shyreas Iyer returns for DC, but Rishabh Pant to take Charge of DC in UAE
IPL 2021 DC: The second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 will begin in the UAE from September 19. After the first phase, the team of Delhi Capitals is still on top of the points table.
Meanwhile, a big news is coming out about Delhi Capitals. The franchise has said that wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant will continue to captain the team in the second season as well.
Earlier, there were speculations that regular skipper Shreyas Iyer has made a comeback from injury and may lead the side in the second phase of the 14th season of the league.
Rishabh Pant to remain Captain of DCÂ
“While it is great news that Shreyas Iyer is fit again & ready to get back to action. It is understood that the Delhi Capitals management want to give him more time to recover. As a result, Rishabh Pant will continue as Captain. But only for the 2nd Half of IPL 2021.”

The 23-year-old had captained the side in the first half as Iyer was ruled out of the tournament due to injury. Iyer suffered this injury during the limited overs series played at home against England before the IPL.
However, Iyer is now fully fit and has started his training by joining the team. Meanwhile, As per reports quoting sources that Iyer is present with the team in UAE. Shreyas will be part of the team, but the captaincy of the team will remain in the hands of Pant.
Iyer is fit to play
The source added, “It is good news that Shreyas Iyer is fit again and is ready to return to action. However, it is believed that the team management wants to give Iyer more time to recover from the injury and hence they have decided to retain Pant as the captain of the team in the second half of IPL 2021 as well. But Pant will captain the team only for IPL 2021. There will be no change of captain for the rest of this season.
Under Pant’s captaincy, Delhi Capitals performed brilliantly in the first half of IPL 2021 and the team was on top of the points table. The team had won six of its eight matches.
