IPL 2021: Top 5 contenders for the orange cap this year in IPL. The Indian Premier League not only excites fans and management all around the world but bring a spark to the players too. This gets them motivated to perform to the best of their abilities and the reward is Orange.

The orange cap given to a batsman who scores the most runs at the end of the season. Throughout the season, the batsman who scored the highest runs dons the Orange cap.

There are thirteen players who have received the Orange Cap so far.
As we are getting closer to the IPL 2021 which begins from 9th April to the 30th of May, let’s look at some fine contenders with ample fire power to take the orange cap.

KL Rahul:

KL Rahul, skipper of Punjab Kings, is a wicketkeeper batsman, right-handed and in an excellent form. He will be one of the key batsmen in this year IPL with a century and 5 half centuries in the previous IPL 2020 which was help in UAE.

Rahul can play more aggressive, according to Punjab batting coach Wasim Jaffer. “KL batted a little timidly last season. He probably batted deeper because there was not much batting after No. 5, and Glenn Maxwell was not firing,” By moving up the order, he can become more aggressive and a well in-form contender for the orange cap this season.

David Warner:

David Andrew Warner, captain of the SRH and a left-handed batsman hailing from Australia, looks to be the key batsman in this season of the IPL 2021. Known for his explosive power hitting and his title-winning effort, a combination of this is good enough for an orange cap.

David Warner was undoubtedly the star performer for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 when the T20 league was moved to the United Arab Emirates due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It was Warner’s 548 runs in 16 matches including 4 half centuries which guided SRH into the Playoffs last year.

Rohit Sharma:

Rohit Gurunath Sharma, a right-handed batsman and the captain of the Mumbai Indians also the defending champions and captain, the most successful captain in the IPL so far.

Known for his tremendous form and most naturally gifted batsmen, though his performance in the 2020 season was a bit on the dull side, Rohit cannot be underestimated.

Rohit Sharma presently as of March 2021 has 5230 runs with an average of 31.31 with a century and 39 half centuries and has 15 wickets to his name. All eyes will once again be on him as he takes charge as captain of the defending champions and well in-form contender for the orange cap.

Dawid Malan:

Dawid Johannes Malan, being the worlds No. 1 T20 player is a risk-free stroke-makers against high-quality pace bowlers. The left-handed batsman has been performing consistently for Middlesex for more than 10 years now. With his instinctive short-pitched destroyer of short-pitched bowlers he will be keen on destroying and taking all the bowlers for a ride in this year IPL 2021.

Picked up by Punjab Kings for 1.5 crore will be all eyes and focuses to pick up the orange cap.

Devdutt Padikkal:

Devdutt Padikkal, a left-handed batsman for the RCB is in an excellent form in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy with is 4 consecutive centuries against Kerala. A product of Karnataka Premier League has impressed many including the IPL.

In his maiden IPL career in 2020, went on to score 5 half centuries with an average of 31.53, will look to grab the orange cap this season with RCB.
