Neither side were willing to budge as Pickford was the first to get tested when he saved Dia’s shot. However, Jordan Henderson broke the deadlock when he slotted home from Bellingham’s cross.

There was hardly any threatening from England but in their first chance of the game, they found the net. Kane and Shaw had chances to double the lead but scuffed their lines.

Just as soon as the half time whistle was about to be blown, England doubled their lead through a sensational counter-attack move completed by Harry Kane.

The England captain was in free space when he received Foden’s pass before rattling the back of the net. It was the perfect counter-attack goal started by Bellingham and Foden before Kane finished it.

SECOND HALF

Senegal lacked the desire, passion and ability to even attempt a turnaround in the result. Mendy had a nervy moment from Kane’s 30 yard effort but held on.

England wrapped up the contest in the 57th minute when Saka lifted the ball over Mendy from Foden’s cross pass for 3-0.

Foden soared down the wing before dribbling past defenders. The Man City player’s cross pass was easily lifted over by Saka; who arrived at the front post.

Kane had the chance to make it four in the 80th minute but he couldn’t connect with Rashford’s early cross.

It was a stress free end to the game as England comprehensively won their Round of 16 clash by 3-0 over the Lions of Teranga. This win sets them up with a Q/F match against defending champions, France on Saturday.
