Krejcikova wins Grand Slam, beats Pavlyuchenkova in the Final of Roland Garros

Krejcikova Champion: Czech tennis player Barbora Krejcikova, number 33 in the world, won on Saturday her first Grand Slam title in her career in singles. After beating also newcomer to finals, Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, 31st place.

Krejcikova beat the Russian by 2 sets to 1 in a nervous final with partials of 6/1 2/6 6/4 after 1h58min of duration on the Philippe Chatrier court, the main one of the French Open.

The Czech, who already has the doubles title in Paris, scored her 12th straight victory. The week before the Major she had won her first cup in Strasbourg, France, a WTA 250 tournament.

After walking around in the first set, she felt her nerves, missed the second set and saw Pavlyuchenkova ask for assistance, needing to lie down on the court.

 In the third set, the Czech commanded the score, had wasted match-points, then in the tenth set she opened 40 to 15, gave a double-fault and closed on the other chance.

The tennis player will be number 15 in the world on the next WTA list.
