La Liga Result: Atlético Madrid smash Eibar 5-0, stay on top of the table

Atlético Madrid hammered Eibar 5-0 at home on Sunday to cement their place at the top of the table. Correa and Llorente scored two each while Carrasco too got onto the score sheet to send Eibar packing.

Simeone’s men had 7 shots on target in comparison to Eibar zero which showed the vast difference between the teams.

And to make matters worse, 5 out of the 7 shots were goals.

Correa broke the deadlock as he bundled home from close range to give the home side a 1-0 advantage.

Within a matter of two minutes, once again Correa doubled the advantage with a sweet goal.

The Argentine latched onto Carrasco’s ball and turned around an Eibar defender before nudging past Dmitrovic to go 2-0 up.

In the second half, it was all too easy once again for Atlético Madrid as they plundered home three more goals.

Carrasco made it 3-0 with a cheeky finish around the keeper to tap into an empty net after he beat two defenders as well.

Marcos Llorente rifled home from 12 yards to make it 4-0 to the home side.

The Spanish international was not done for the night and added his second of the match. He latched onto Carrasco’s ball and slotted home to send Atlético 5-0 up on the night.

Atlético Madrid could have scored more but it become all too embarrassing for the visitors.

It finished 5-0 to Atlético Madrid and with this victory, they go 4 points clear at the top of the table.
