Lionel Messi breaks another record, becomes only player to score more than 20 goals in 13 Consecutive seasons


Lionel Messi record: There were plenty of reasons to celebrate last night as not only did Barcelona beat SD Huesca 4-1 to go 2nd on the points table but also Messi equaled Xavi’s total appearances for the club with 767 appearances to his name.
Another record was broken last night as Messi’s brace ensured that he is the first player to have scored 20 or more goals in 13 consecutive seasons in the La Liga.
The little Magician has scored 21 goals already this season and is still looking hungry to take Barcelona to the top amidst all the off-field talk.

He began this journey by scoring 23 goals in the 2008/09 season following it up with 34, 31, 50, 46, 28, 43, 26, 37, 34, 36, 25 and 21* goals in the following 12 seasons to hold this record.
Lionel Messi has scored 661 goals and provided 290 assists during his illustrious 17 year career at Barcelona which includes 465 goals in the La Liga.
Messi has a grand total of 34 trophies to his name during his stay at Barcelona. The Argentina and Barcelona captain has won 6 Ballon D’or awards; most by any player in the history of the game.
Barcelona may have been knocked out of the Champions League but that has not diverted Messi’s attention from continuing to do what he does best for Barcelona; score goals and win matches.
The consistency is unfathomable and we hope that he continues marvelling for years to come.
